Thinking, Observing, Questioning and Experimenting

Teenii educational toys cover a wide range of subjects and include science kits, coding kits, robotics kits, and more. They are not just motivational and fun. They can also sharpen students’ powers of observation, stimulating questions. And they are the key to enhanced learning, clarification and consolidation of theory.

Teenii STEM Basic Circuit Learning Kit

Electricity and Magnetism Experiment

This kit is an excellent gift for kids to learn AND understanding the science and mathematics behind electricity and magnetism. The included manual also gives simple but concise explanations about each piece included in the kit. It’s got all necessary components including voltage, ampere meter, mini lightbulb, generator, motor, magnets. Simply follow the instructions to conduct different experiments and explore the world.

3 AA batteries required.

Recommended for ages 8 and up.

Younger kids should be under parents’ supervision and guidance.

Real components instead of abstract ones

Unlike the other abstract kits with which kids will have great fun playing with it but hardly learn or understand what they are doing, everything in this kit is open and naked to the eye. By reading the manual and doing the experiments, kids will learn about basic rules in parallel and series circuit; schematic diagrams drawing; the relationship between voltage, current and resistance; magnetic effect of electric current etc. With this kit, kids will learn the principles behind electric circuits and why they work in the manner they do. Moreove, Moreover, you can literally do probably a hundred experiments by tinkering with all the components or things you can find around the house without following the instruction of the manual.

Learning about magnets

When a magnet touches a nail, smaller metal pieces can be attracted to the nail, as shown in the picture. The nail itself becomes a magnet which causes the nail to become polarized. If you pull away the magnet, the nail loses some of its magnetization and will no longer exhibit as much attraction for other metal objects.

If you touch a magnet to a piece of soft iron (iron with a low carbon content) replacing the nail, after you pull away the magnet, the iron loses all of its attraction for the other metal objects. This is because soft iron is a temporary magnet.

Creating a Fruit Battery

In this experiment, you will make a battery with fruits and learn about the principle of the wet cell battery. The chemistry behind the fruit cell is that zinc is more reactive than copper which means zinc loses electrons more easily than copper. As a result, oxidation occurs in the zinc metal strip and zinc metal loses electrons which then become zinc ions. The electrons then flow from the zinc strip to the copper strip through an external circuit.

Making a Hand-crank Electric Generator

In this experiment, you will make a hand-crank generator with an electric motor and learn about the working principle of electric generators. The electric generator, invented by Michael Faraday, converts mechanical energy to electrical energy. An electric generator consists of a number of wire loops placed in a strong magnetic field, which is similar to the electric motor. When the wire loops rotates, it cuts magnetic field lines. So the current is generated in a circuit.

Building a Electric Raning Bell

In this experiment, you will build an electric bell with batteries and a solenoid and learning the mechanics of the original ranging bell. When the switch is pressed, current flows around the circuit. The soft iron core is magnetized by the magnetic field produced by the current in the coil. Then soft iron armature is attracted and moves towards the soft iron core. Hammer moves to hit the gong and produce a sound. Contacts open to switch off the current. Soft iron core loses its magnetism. Spring brings the soft iron armature back to its original position. Contacts will close to switch on the current again. The process repeats so the bell keeps ranging.
